Sluban T-34 Tank Review

Welcome to my Sluban T-34 Tank review of set M38-B0689.

A lot of people have questions about the quality and compatibility of Chinese Lego knock offs so I’ll be reviewing a bunch of these military Lego style sets.

First off, Lego does not make any military sets so Sluban’s military block sets aren’t Lego rip offs. They are their own unique sets.

I always wanted to build Lego tanks as a kid but the major problem was the track system. For a while I had some rubber tracks but they weren’t big enough to build a cool looking tank.

Lego Technic tracks came in expensive sets and weren’t economical to build a few custom tanks.

Block makers like Sluban, Kazi, Gudi, Xingbao and others fill this crucial void in the building block market.

Soviet T-34 Tank

The Sluban T-34 Tank is modelled on the iconic Soviet T-34-85 that was mass produced during the Second World War. 

Nearly 50,000 of these tanks were built during the war and they featured a monster 85mm main gun.  

They were the primary tank used by the Soviets to defeat the Germans. 

Sluban T-34 Features

The Sluban T-34 Tank set (M38-B0689) comes with 687 pieces and the price is right at about $25 USD.

The set includes 2 minifigures: a tank commander and a sniper!

This set is actually a 2 in 1.  You can make the T-34 tank or a T-34 tank destroyer.  I already have another Sluban set of the SU-85 tank destroyer so I built the T-34. 

The designers did an excellent job on making the T-34 tank look like the real thing. 

The tracks move really well, especially on carpet.  The tracks are the wider ones offered by Sluban.

The turret rotates fully and there is a knob at the rear of the tank that you can turn that will rotate the turret.  I thought this feature was pretty cool, especially if you’re making YouTube videos.

The rear engine compartment also opens.

Overall, the tank is a pretty solid build.
