Welcome to my Sluban BT 7 Tank Review of set M38 – B0686.
A lot of people have questions about the quality and compatibility of Chinese Lego knock offs so I’ll be reviewing a bunch of these military Lego style sets.
First off, Lego does not make any military sets so Sluban’s military block sets aren’t Lego rip offs. They are their own unique sets.

I always wanted to build Lego tanks as a kid but the major problem was the track system. For a while I had some rubber tracks but they weren’t big enough to build a cool looking tank.
Lego Technic tracks came in expensive sets and weren’t economical to build a few custom tanks.
Block makers like Sluban, Kazi, Gudi, Xingbao and others fill this crucial void in the building block market.

Soviet BT 7 Tank
The Soviet BT 7 Tank was a light tank built from about 1935 to 1940. It was lightly armored but well armed for the time; sporting a 45mm main gun and a 7.62mm machine gun. This tank was replaced by the infamous T-34 medium tank.
Sluban BT 7 Tank Features
The Sluban BT 7 Tank set (M38-B0686) comes with 347 pieces and the price is right at about $15 USD.
The set includes 2 mini figures: a tank commander and sniper or soldier. The set also comes with some WW2 era weapons.
The designers did a decent job on making the BT 7 tank look like the real thing.
The tank is about 15cm long, about 5 cm wide and 6 cm high.
While not the best track system I’ve seen, the tracks move fairly well, even on carpet. The tracks are the small, thin ones offered by Sluban.
The turret rotates fully and there is a top a hatch that opens with room for 1 mini figure. The main gun moves up and down.
The rear engine compartment also opens.
Overall, the tank is a pretty solid build for a smaller beginner level set.
