German Panther Tank
The Panther is a German medium tank deployed during World War II on the Eastern and Western Fronts in Europe from mid-1943 to the war’s end in 1945. It had the ordnance inventory designation of Sd.Kfz. 171. It was designated as the Panzerkampfwagen V Panther until 27 February 1944, when Hitler ordered that the Roman numeral “V” be deleted. Contemporary English language reports sometimes refer to it as the “Mark V”.
The Panther was intended to counter the Soviet T-34 and to replace the Panzer III and Panzer IV. Nevertheless, it served alongside the Panzer IV and the heavier Tiger I until the end of the war. It is considered one of the best tanks of World War II for its excellent firepower and protection, although its reliability was less impressive.
Cobi Panther Tank Ausf. A
The set comes with 490 pieces, 2 mini figures and World War 2 era weapons like the Panzerfaust anti tank rocket.
The Tank is 27.5 cm long, 11.5 cm high and 12 cm wide.
Cobi Panther Tank Features
The Panther tank has some really cool features.
First, the turret fully rotates 360 degrees. The main gun moves up and down too.
There is 1 round hatch on top of the turret for a commander or gunner. There is also a mounted MG 34 machine gun.
At the front of the tank, there is 2 square hatches that open and close for mini figures. There is also a hull mounted machine gun that moves up and down. This gun is a custom design and looks like an authentic gun.
At the back, there is an engine hatch that opens to reveal a custom designed engine that looks very realistic.
The track system is second to none. In fact, it’s probably the best track system of all the Cobi tanks, including the T-34. This tank rolls so smoothly over hard surfaces and even carpet!
Finally, there are lots of custom printed bricks with this set which is super cool. I hate peeling and putting on cheap stickers!
I own a lot of Cobi tank models and really wanted to the Panther and it did not disappoint! It’s a solid addition to my collection.
