Welcome to my Sluban Tu 2 Soviet Bomber review of set M38 B0688.

A lot of people have questions about the quality and compatibility of Chinese Lego knock offs so I’ll be reviewing a bunch of these military Lego style sets.

I always wanted to build Lego World War 2 sets and tanks as a kid but the major problem was the track system. For a while I had some rubber tracks but they weren’t big enough to build a cool looking tank.

Lego Technic tracks came in expensive sets and weren’t economical to build a few custom tanks.

Chinese block makers like Sluban, Kazi, Gudi, Xingbao and others fill this crucial void in the building block market.

Soviet TU 2 Bomber

The Soviet TU 2 was an iconic World War 2 bomber.  It featured a twin engine design and was fast and could withstand a lot of punishment.  This bomber was an important asset of the Russian air force throughout the war.  Nearly 2,300 were built during the course of the war and it remained in service years later.

The Sluban Tu 2 Soviet Bomber set (M38 B0688) comes with 311 pieces and the price is right at about $15 USD.

The set includes 1 pilot mini figure.  The aircraft measures 29 cm long.  So it’s a pretty good size plane.

The Sluban Tu 2 Soviet Bomber Set features 2 rotating propeller.  What I really like about this set is that it has doors on the bottom of the aircraft that open to release 2 bombs! 

Just before the tail of the bomber there is a top machine gun turret.  The gun is just an a Lego antennae so it’s not that great. I thought Sluban should have used the gun on the Il 2 fighter bomber aircraft instead.     

Overall Sluban did a superb job at designing the Tu 2 Soviet Bomber to look historically accurate.
