A Great White Shark has been tracked off the coast of Newfoundland. Earlier this week the shark, named Hilton, made his way to the waters off of Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland!
Hilton is a male great white shark over 12 feet long and weighing in at approximately 600 kilograms! The shark spent most of the summer around Nova Scotia, before making his way to Cape Breton in September and then on to Newfoundland!
All summer long, great white sharks have been recorded in the Bay of Fundy, the Minas Basin along the Eastern and Southern shores of Nova Scotia, Cape Breton…and now Newfoundland. What are these sharks up to? Is there an area near the Grand Banks or off Sable Island where North Atlantic great white sharks go to mate?
Hopefully scientist and oceanographers will have the answers soon.
With the advantage of satellite tracking, we’re learning that there are great white sharks in Canadian waters. For more information, check out my article on Great White Sharks in Canada.
