The Great White Shark is the most majestic predator in the ocean. It ranks #1 in human attacks on the top 5 most dangerous sharks list. Here are some great white shark pictures with captions:

The greatest of all sharks is the Great White Shark also known as the White Shark, White Pointer, or White Death. The Great White Shark has a fearsome reputation and deserves its place as one of planet Earth’s top predators.
There’s no more iconic great white shark pictures than the ones with the fin breaking the surface! This shark is about 12 feet long, which is on the smaller end when it comes to great white sharks. This photo was taken at Guadalupe Island on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The shark is cruising at the surface looking for a chunk of Tuna bait.
Here’s another picture of a great white shark at the surface biting tuna bait. This picture was taken at Guadalupe Island in Mexico.
Here’s an underwater shot of a great white shark biting a tuna bait. The shark is about 12-14 feet in length (the chunk of tuna is about 1 foot long). One of the interesting things about this photo is that it shows just how thick and “girthy” great white sharks actually are. The bigger a great white shark gets the wider and more bulkier it becomes. These fish are no joke. They are powerful, muscular and freakin huge!
Here’s another photo of a large great white shark investigating a tuna bait at Guadalupe Island. This female great white shark is about 14-16 feet in length which is a mature size for the species. These animals are just massive and so incredibly graceful in the water.

This female great white shark has “bite marks” around her gills and the base of her pectoral fin. These marks indicate that she has recently mated. Researchers believe that great white sharks visit Guadalupe Island to fatten up on Seals and Sea Lions before they travel to an area in the Pacific Ocean known as the “White Shark Cafe” where it’s believed they go to mate and give birth.
In this picture you can clearly see the 5 gill slits on the side of the great white shark. Sharks get their oxygen by filtering water through their gills. They also have large dorsal and pectoral fins that help them glide through the water like a torpedo.
Every seal’s worst nightmare! A great white shark stalking seals just off the shoreline at Guadalupe Island. These sharks are master hunters and super stealthy. The greyish coloration on their top half provides perfect camouflage from anyone or anything looking down at them from the surface.
Here’s a great white shark profile picture. You can see the massive tail that propels the fish at speeds up to 25 mph (56 kmph).
Here’s a closer picture of a great white shark’s face. You can see the tiny black jelly-filled pores on its snout known as the Ampullae of Lorenzini. The Ampullae of Lorenzini enable the shark to detect electric fields in the water which is important for hunting. All things have these invisible electrical fields around them.
Just below the Ampullae of Lorenzini you can see the shark’s nostril. Sharks have an incredibly strong sense of smell and Great White Sharks can detect even minute odors miles away.
Finally, the shark’s eye isn’t some black empty space of a mindless killer. The shark’s eye is actually blue with a large black pupil.
This picture was taken from a submersible cage about 30 feet below the surface at Guadalupe Island. This is a large female great white shark that was around 18 feet in length. This was the largest great white shark that I ever saw and was most like pregnant because she was absolutely massive.
